Busy busy summer
In my attempt to plan fun things for my kids to do this summer, I majorly overcomitted myself these past 3 weeks. I'll admit, I do that a lot. I'll plan a few things, then plan a few more without looking back at the things I already planned. Then before I know it, I have way too many things for us to do. My big downfall this time was not remembering that our "usual" activities, piano, dance, swim team and speech therapy don't stop during the summer. Anyway, We had a great 3 weeks, but it was so hectic.
Bryce took 2 classes at Gateways, which is a summer enrichment program. He took fencing and cartooning. It was a ton of driving, 4 days a week for 3 weeks. Now I know how the non-homeschooolers feel. It would make me batty to have to drive my kids to school every single day. We are not "good morning, jump out of bed, get ready, race out the door" people! Anyway, he can now safely (HA!) poke people with a 4 foot long sword like thing without getting himself in trouble, and can draw even better than before. It was not cool to show up and take pictures, so I don't have any. ;-)
Blake and Marlie took another round of swim lessons. My master plan is to have all 3 kids on the swim team. I think Blake will only need one more session before I'll have him join. His back stroke is really sloppy. He has such a hard time staying straight, when the celieng of the indoor pool is open! Marlie's swimming is getting much better, but she's still a bit young to do swim team, but we'll see. This round of lessons she swam a 50 (2 laps) freestyle and a 25 (one lap) backstroke for the first time!
Last but not least we did VBS for a week. I totally forgot my camera yesterday, so I don't have pictures of the last day! Marlie made a new friend, that she was very attached to. I talked to the little girls mom, and they go to the church we are planning to go to when we buy a new house. So Mar was thrilled that she will see this little girl again. Blake saw a few firneds from AWANA and Class Day. They had a great week, and I'm happy because it's the end of my insanely busy 3 weeks!
