My first free motion machined quilt!!!
For Christmas my friend Lisa gave me a walking foot for my sewing machine. It didn't come with directions, which was kind of funny. It had all these pieces and we couldn't figure out how the thing worked!
A few months later, I determined to figure out how the walking foot worked. I looked on Youtube and discovered that they had send me a walking foot and a free motion quilting foot. That's why there were so many pieces! Oh yay, I had always wanted to free motion quilt. I found an awesome tutorial http://www.sewinspiredblog.com/2007/09/free-motion-machine-quilting-tutorial.html and got busy! I had been working on a quilt for a friend's first baby, so it was the perfect chance to try out my new skills. It turned out fantastic, I should have taken pictures of the upclose work. Maybe when the baby is born I'll snap a few :-)
