Unlikely Hero Play and 63rd Annual Dance Recitals
Yesterday was nuts. I knew it was going to be a busy day, but if I even an inkling of how insane crazy it was going to be, I probably wouldn't have gotten out of bed! Blake and Marlie both had shows yesterday. Marlie her dance show at the Casa Del Prado theatre, and Blake had 2 musicals. The schedule was tight, JP and I had to enlist my mom's help and a babysitter to pull it all off. Marlie's show started at 4pm downtown. Blake's first show started at 5pm in Tierrasanta. Both kids had to be at their locations 1 hours before show time with full costume, theatre makeup and hair. I spent a considerable amount of time Friday night gathering everything together and writing a master schedule and instructions for all. Unfortunately, I didn't write the "baby falls off the couch and can't walk so we have to take him to the ER with a possible broken leg" contingency plan.
Little Mason was playing in the front room, on Saturday morning, while I was making breakfast. I heard a thump and a scream, and rushed in to find him on the ground. Blake and Marlie said he fell off the sofa. I hugged him for a minute and he settled down quick. When I went to put him back of the ground he wouldn't stand up. For the next hour I watched him try to stand up, then fall down screaming. So I called the pediatrician and sat on hold for 35 minutes :-( By the time they got to me, it was 10:30am. Too bad for us that radiology closes at 11am on Saturdays!!! She advised me to give him Tylenol and take him to the ER. I probably would have waited a few more hours to see how he was, except for that he was supposed to be staying with a babysitter while JP and I shuttled kids to their shows. I didn't feel good about him staying with her if he could have a broken leg!! So off to the ER we went. I've sat for a really long time at the pediatric ER before, so I thought we were in for a very long day. Praise God they moved fast and I got in there right before a huge rush of people came! They x-rayed his leg and foot and it showed a bad sprain, but nothing more! I was so relived that he was okay.
By this time it was 1:15pm so I raced back home to put our old schedule back into action. Marlie, Bryce and I scooted off to her her recital. My grandma and JP met us there. Marlie did a fab job with her two dances. She knew every step perfectly. The silly girl would not crack a smile, she's so serious! She did such a great job though. While we were with Marlie, my mom ushered Blake off to his production, (and ended up taking Mason with her). After Marlie was done, JP, Grandma, Bryce and I raced up to Blake's second performance. JP grabbed us Jack in the Box (so gross!) and we scarfed it while waiting to get seats for Blake's show. Blake was so much fun to watch. He said his lines loud and clear, and his antics as Invincible IQ were hilarious! After the show he had lots of admirers who asked him for his autograph! By 9:00pm we were done and by 10:15pm everyone was clean and in bed, ready for round 2 of shows for Blake which start at 9am on Saturday morning.
