Reviving the garden

Our garden is coming alive again! Last year we loosely followed the square foot gardening method and our garden grew like crazy. This year we decided to build 2 actual boxes to garden in, and try to follow the actual SFG method a little more closely. All of our gardening plans are intertwined with our Garden unit study that I bought from www.unitstudy.com

Marlie and Blake helped build the boxes, 4 feet long by 4 feet wide.

We staple gunned weed cloth to the bottoms of the boxes

Our dump has free compost, you just have to shovel it yourself :-) We mixed 1/3 peat moss, 1/3 vermiculite, and 1/3 compost to fill our boxes.

We had some leftover compost in the yard, and Marlie found lots of worms in it!

Mason wanted to help too, so we let him hammer the grids onto the boxes. We moved last years strawberry plants, to the new boxes. I hope they survive, they were looking a little sad, LOL.

Next up: planting, yay!!
