Craft Camp - Day 1
Today was day 1 of my week long Girls Craft Camp. We had 8 girls from ages 7-11 over for a fantastic day of crafts and fun. The girls arrived at 9:50 ready to go. The house was all a buzz with excitement. Our first hour and a half is set aside for sewing. I wanted something they could finish in one day, so we made rice ice packs. None of the girls, except Marlie had any experience sewing. I was so thankful that my mom was here to help. She's taught elementary school kids sewing for years and years. The girls did a great job with the rice packs, far better than I thought they would. We had a few "race car driver", type sewers, LOL, but for the most part they did well.
For cooking we made pudding cones. I found the recipe in an old Family Fun Magazine.
1 box instant pudding mix
1 ziplock bag
2 cups cold milk
Ice cream cones
sprinkles
Empty pudding mix into ziplock bag.
Add milk.
Seal the bag, then sqeeze, knead, and shake for 8 minutes or until the contents are thickened.
Place bag in refrigerator to set.
To serve, cut off one corner of the bag and squeeze into ice cream cones.
Top with sprinkles.
The girls made the pudding, then while it set in the refrigerator they ate lunch.
After lunch we put the cones together, and they inhaled them even quicker than they made them!
After lunch and pudding cones we painted ceramic animals, then drew pictures while I read a bit of "A Hundred Dresses".
OUr first day was fantastic! I can't wait for tomorrow, and hopefully I'll remember to take pictures :-)

Cami decided she wants to use her ice pack as a dolly pillow. Too cute.
