"Mama I want to color me!"
So after being away from my blog for a looong time, I'm back! Mason and I did a fun project today, and I thought I would share it. Marlie and I were in the garage/school room working. It was so beautiful outside that we had the garage door open. Mason came running over and said, "Mama I want to color me!" Now when Marlie was little that was a scary thought, because she literally would color all over her arms and legs just about every day. But I knew what Mason meant! So I grabbed some paper and we got to work
We are using very thick, packing paper. Anything that's really thin will rip on the concrete.
I usually tape the paper down with masking tape, but we were all out. Mason grabbed some bricks and helped me put them on the corners of the paper to hold it down. He layed down and struck a pose, LOL. I used a thick black sharpie to draw his outline. He loves it when I draw his fingers, so I made sure to draw them too. It doesn't have to be perfect, just the basic shape of your kiddo.
As soon as I was done tracing, Mason got busy "coloring me!". He likes to trace over my black line with his markers.
Tracing his fingers...
Drawing a "scary guy" on his shirt...
It wasn't long before he dragged the Lakeshore dot markers out. I like them better than paint for big floor projects like this. See the cute face he made on himself? After about an hour Mason was done with coloring himself. We rolled up flat Mason, and will bring him out again tomorrow. By the end of the week, he will be covered in color :-)
