The chicks are here!

On Friday we were very busy getting ready to host the appetizer portion of a middle school progressive dinner. At about 4:00pm I ran upstairs to get something, and low and behold there was a chick in the incubator! I was so surprised. We had read that after pipping, it could be up to 24 hours before the chicks hatched, so we weren't counting on any chicks for many hours. Within an hour, we had 2 chicks. The kids were so excited, and so was I. All our diligent work had paid off!

By 11:oo Friday night 6 chicks had hatched! I kept trying to get a video of one hatching, but it seemed to take them so long to zip their shell, that when they finally came out I had given up watching! It took several tries and it's blurry from looking through the window on the incubator, but here is chick #6 hatching
