Can you keep up with the Gonzales family??

We have been so busy these last few weeks. I don't know what I was thinking when I planned our time! I must not have looked at the calendar LOL. Anyway, our crazy time started with JP and Bryce heading off to Jr Winter camp. It was Bryce's second time going to Jr winter camp at http://www.foresthome.org/index.cfm. They needed a bus driver to drive them up there, so JP got to go for free! They had a marvelous time. Bryce and th eother 6th graders got to ride the zip line. I wish they had remembered to take the camera!!

Then Bryce competed at his 2nd swim meet. This was the Short Course Invitational Championship. It was our first really long meet, it lasted about 5 hours. I planned well in advance with snacks, lots of extra towels, and a bunch of stuff to do. All the kids that swim at Toby Wells hung out together while they waited for their heats. Bryce came in first on a few of his heats, and his overall scores were pretty good for a first year swimmer.

Boys 11-12 100 yard free - 6th place 1:26.96

Boys 11-12 50 yard back -4th place 43:5
Boys 11-12 50 yard free - 4th 36:45

Boys 11-12 200 yard medely relay 1st place 2:44.83

For those of you that aren't swimmers, a typical pool is 25 meters long (unless it's olympic size, then it's 50 meters long). So the 100 yard free was 4 laps. We are so proud of Bryce. He shaved time off of all of his scores from his last meet. He's obsessed with swimming. If I could get him to practice every single day, he's be thrilled. Since he was moved up to the silver team, he's a lot more tired after practice!! He pretty much comes home, eats dinner, then goes to bed.

Next we headed off to the desert to camp with my entire family. We drove late Thursday night to Santa Clarita, then left super early Friday morning and headed out to Dove Springs. All my aunts, uncles, cousins, grandma etc.. were there. My Uncle Steve has motorcycles and a dune buggy, and my Uncle Scott has dune buggies and quads. My kids had a blast driving them all over the desert. I was nervous about how they'd do driving by themselves, but I was pleasantly suprised at how well they did. JP even learned how to ride motorcycles, and caught air a few times ;-)

We arrived home late Sunday night. I quickly unpacked the clothes and washed Bryce's clothes. The next morning we repacked his bags for 6th grade camp at Indian Hills! We drove him the 45 minutes to camp. Poor Marlie got carsick and threw up on the way up there. At camp, we walked hin to his cabin, said, "Hi" to his counselor (one of Bryce's friends dad), snapped a picture and left. We picked him up at 1pm on Friday. He didn't want to leave!! He had so much fun, and learned a ton about survival and the outdoors. They give the kids a final test on Friday to see what they've retained. He got a 95%, so I guess he learned a lot!

Last but not least, we took off for a week of camping at Campland on the Bay. It was our first time camping there. The small camp sites are super small, but there was so much to do, you hardly spent any time in your campsite! After being there for a few hours we found some friends that we hadn't seen in probably 5 years. Our boys got along great with their boys, and were so glad to have some friends there. The campground had pools, a playground and a planned activity for the kids every 2 hours. They were exhausted from all the scootering around, playing soccer, kickball, capture the flag, and everything else they did. JP and I were tired just following them around!! Just a funny...Most campgrounds have sqirrels that come pick at the food that the kids drop. This place had ducks! They were really brave, and would come super close to us.

And in the middle of all of this fun crazyness, we put an offer on a house. It was my dream house, 5 bedrooms, 3 car garage, canyon lot, cul-de-sac. But sadly, it was really out of our price range so we offered low. I found out yesterday night that they accepted an offer that was 80,000 more than ours. I'm still sad about it, but hoping and praying that God has a better hosue for us. Just for Bud, it's mls # 086001292

That's a nice house...I'm so sorry you didn't get it. I hear prices are dropping so I'm sure you find something soon!
